Brown coconuts are mature coconuts with a tough, hairy brown shell and firm, white inner flesh. The water inside is minimal but the meat is dense, oily, and slightly sweet with a nutty aroma. Once cracked open, the flesh can be grated, blended, or dried. It's widely used in both sweet and savory dishes and is the source of coconut milk and oil.
